Description

This dataset contains specimen records from the Papillotten Project from the Lepidoptera collection of the Naturalis Biodiversity Center (Leiden, Netherlands).  These records are updated and enriched with georeferences and and will be available at GBIF.org soon

Method step description:

  1. The original temporal information of the records includes both single dates and time intervals (e.g. 17 June 1980 or June 1980, which could be any date between 1980-06-01 and 1980-06-30). Since GBIF cannot handle time intervals, only the first day of a period is recorded in the eventDate term. The original date is stored in the verbatimEventDate term.
